Advanced Policy Strategies in Lincoln Douglas Lab (2019)
Dates: June 30 - July 13
Many debates in Lincoln Douglas are now centering around “policy arguments” such as topicality, counterplans, disadvantages, solvency arguments, debate theory arguments, and kritiks. To be competitive in many circuits, one must familiarize themselves with this genre/style of argument. At the Global Debate Symposium, we have instructors that have won and/or coached the National Debate Tournament, Cross Examination Debate Association Championship, the Tournament of Champions, the National Debate Coaches Association Championship, among others utilizing these strategic approaches. Many Lincoln Douglas students have opted to go to “policy camp” to gain these skills, only to spend weeks on a topic that they will never debate, with many instructors who don’t know the format of Lincoln Douglas. Just us at the Global Debate Symposium and learn these strategies from the best instructors in the game who understand policy arguments, and how they are deployed in tournaments in the Lincoln Douglas format!
