Elective Workshop - Matter Packing/Content Development (For International Students) (2021)
Dates: July 3 - July 6
This program will focus on students hearing information in the content areas that they must face in both prepared and impromptu motions. Content areas discussed involve motions including, but not limited to, arts and culture, criminal justice, governmental structures, education, economics/trade, environment, personal freedoms, international relations, issues regarding race/racism, religion, sports and more! The key to our model is hearing the perspectives from trainers from all around the world on the same content areas. For example, if you ask a person from the Unites States and someone from Europe who won World War II you might be surprised at the different answers you might receive. With tournaments becoming increasingly international (in both teams and adjudicators), it is important to understand different world views to become truly global citizens. Student will also engage in drills and activities to help them utilize the knowledge gained in competitive settings.
